Thornbury
Australian Shepherds is a small family of Aussies located in the
wonderful coastal town of Baytown, TX, just South of Houston. We strive to produce
Aussies that excel in the AKC Conformation rings, ASCA Conformation
rings, and carry the brains and a willing attitude to handle any
performance venue that's asked of them.
We have been dealing with
Australian Shepherds and their unique personalities since 1990.
Our very first Aussie was named Dillon, shortly followed by Adam, both
of whom were avid horse herders. Prior to getting into the world
of Aussies, we have several years experience in horses - breeding,
training, and showing performance Quarter Horses.
Our goals include
breeding Aussies that are sound in temperament and structure, clean
movement, brains, and ability to do a multitude of events.
We strictly adhere to the ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America)
Breed Standard. We do not support, nor condone the breeding and
separating of our breed with Mini's or Toy's. Thornbury Aussies are screened and evaluated extremely carefully
beforehand to determine if they will fit into our program.
In our breeding program,
we screen each prospective buyer carefully to determine which puppy will
best suit them and their lifestyle, and maintain the right to reject a
potential home if we feel it does not meet our expectations for our
puppies. At Thornbury, we put a lot of time and effort into every
single breeding to ensure that as much precaution as can be taken, is
taken to aim towards reduction of hereditary dysfunctions which are
becoming more apparent in our breed. We spend lots of time researching
pedigree's and the strengths and weaknesses of each potential mating to
determine if it will be a positive contribution to our breeding program.
All of our Aussies
are OFA'd, and have their eyes screened and certified by an
Opthamologist yearly. All puppies have their eyes screened, first
shots, worming, bordatella shots, and heartworm preventative before they
leave for their new homes. We stay in contact with everyone who
has a Thornbury puppy, so that we can make sure they are doing well and
are not presenting any genetic/hereditary problems.
We hope that you take a
moment to meet the members of our family.
