One of the hardest things I've ever done is to write the above dates. Trevor left us way too early and very unexpectedly. To say that he was our perfect Aussie is putting it mildly. There really aren't enough words to describe how much a member of our family that he was, and still is. Our daughter, Mallori, was only 3 1/2 yrs old when we got him and quickly he outgrew her. I have pictures and pictures of Trevor playing dress up with her, or carrying a toy around in his mouth, or giving me a big, giant grin when I got home from work. He was my first real experience into the show ring and stood brave beside me as I made that scary, scary step into the Obedience ring for the first time. Trevor did everything right that weekend and if I hadn't of messed up, he would have had 2 legs towards his CD in just one weekend and our first trip out. Trevor did anything, and everything, in the world for me if he had an inkling that it would make me happy. Trevor also took his first steps with me when I took my first steps into an Agility training field. While he wasn't the fastest, nor would he ever have been, he absolutely loved doing fun things like that with me. His favorites had to be the A-Frame and the Dog Walk. He lumbered around the field on our final test to advance a class, clearing every jump, embracing my mistakes and making sure that I had a smile on my face when we finished our run.
In addition to these wonderful things, Trevor had a very natural way of watching out for his family. He did not trust easily, but once he did, you could rest assured that he would never harm a hair on your head. I can't say the same about our household vacuum cleaner, but certainly Trevor must have had a good reason to think that it needed to go. One of my favorite memories of Trevor was when our rescue kitty, Mazyboots, was only about 5 weeks old. Between us feeding him, playing with Lolly's puppies and Gabby trying to raise him, it was a sure bet that Mazy would turn out like an Aussie...and he did. But during this process, I can recall an evening when we were all sitting in the den watching TV. Trevor and Gabby were chewing on fresh bones and I see Mazyboots come up from around the couch, doing his best impersonation of a Panther from the Discovery Channel. He crawled quietly and stealthily up Trevor's back...starting at his pants and inched his way up his back, certain that he blended in perfectly with Trevors lush black coat for you see, Mazyboots is a mostly black Panther...er...cat. Up Trevor's neck he climbed, and finally, when I thought that Trevor was going to turn around and give him the what-for, Mazyboots popped up over Trevor's head and looked at him upside down. Trevor gave him a big grin and let the kitty nibble on his bone.
Trevor has left some very large paws to fill. He passed away exactly 1 week after our beloved Cindy-Bindy, and I'm sure it was her Diva like preferences that God thought He had to have Trevor up there to keep her in line. If she needed Trev more than us, I'm ok with that. But we sure do miss him - our pillow, blanket, security blanket, foot warmer, grinner, counter surfer and generally just a best friend. Trevor, we will miss you so much and will wait to see you again some day.

Trevor was my first real show Aussie and he has succeeded in showing me exactly how Aussies should be. He's a grinner extraordinaire, has good structure, flowing side gait, and is excellent at herding vacuum cleaners. He sleeps on my daughters bed every single night; he guards our house; keeps us warm....whatever is needed. Trevor is now altered and will begin competing in the ASCA Altered program! He now has 14 pts in ASCA, and was 1 dog shy of making that 3rd major, which would have finished him. At this point, we're going to let him off from the show ring, as he really only does it to make me happy.
FLASH: At the EASTEX show at nearly 7 years of age, Trevor tagged along to help our friend work on her handling skills and to help build the major. Low and behold they handled their way to a 3 pt major (a first for both of them)!!! I'm so pleased with this win!
